Retired Richmond police officer succumbs to Covid-19


Susan Denise Casteel, age 54, of Berea, passed away last week after a long hard battle with Covid, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Ms. Casteel was a retired police officer with the Richmond Police Department. She was born in Berea. According to the Lakes Funeral Home website, here are details of her services and obituary:

In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Dennis and Opal Hobbs, and Granville and Glatha Casteel; two uncles and their wives, Conard (Lela) Hobbs and Donald Jo (Ella Mae) Hacker.
She is survived by her very supportive mom, Darlene Hobbs; her companion and his daughters, Rick Short, Raven and Summer; four special cousins, Jerry (Connie) Hobbs, Matthew Hacker, Chrystal (Noah) Campbell, Bobby (Michelle) Fitts (who was like a brother to her); her fur babies, Charlie and Lily; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 3 pm, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. John Doss officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 3 pm at the funeral home. Services will be livestreamed at
