Winter weather advisory issued for much of viewing area

An arctic cold front will cross the region late tonight and on Friday morning. This and a developing storm system off the East Coast, which will aid in pulling the cold air southward. This scenario will bring the potential for a dusting to a half of an inch of snow from late tonight into Friday morning. Then, as an upper level disturbance approaches the area, snow showers are expected to develop on Friday afternoon and continue into Friday night. The greatest threat for accumulating snow of up to 2 inches with these snow showers will be for locations near and to the west of Interstate 75 as well as locations near and to the south of the Hal Rogers Parkway and KY Highway 80 corridors. Slick travel
and longer travel times may result during the Friday evening commute.

In addition, the combination of northerly winds and air temperatures sinking to near 10 degrees will result in wind chill
values near zero by Saturday morning.
