The Garrard County Food Pantry has been declared a “total loss” following a devastating Saturday morning fire.
Following an investigation, police have confirmed that the cause of the fire was arson, and a suspect has been lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center on related charges.
Authorities say the fire began around 10 a.m., but that no one was inside at the time and no injuries have been reported. However, those at the shelter say that there were over 100 thanksgiving meals that were all donated and now destroyed. Anyone who would like to donate in order to replace the meals can bring food items items to board member Monty Majors at First Southern Bank in downtown Lancaster.
