Madison County Announces Passing of Magistrate Reynolds

Madison County Fiscal Court has announced today the death of Magistrate Paul Reynolds, who had only been representing his area since the death of Larry Combs in December of last year. In a statement issued to social media, Madison County Government stated:

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Madison County Fiscal Court announces the passing of District 1 Magistrate Paul Reynolds. Magistrate Reynolds proudly served the people of Madison County and District 1, which represents southern Madison County and the City of Berea. Reynolds was appointed in January 2021 by Governor Beshear after the passing of longtime Magistrate Larry Combs.

“It has been an honor to serve with Paul this past year. His engagement and commitment to serve Madison Countians was always his priority. While he was new to Fiscal Court, he quickly demonstrated his dedication to District 1. My thoughts and prayers remain with Paul’s family today and in the difficult days ahead,” said Judge Executive Reagan Taylor. Reynolds was known for many things, but without a doubt his love for his family were at the top of the list.

Under Kentucky Revised Statutes 63.190, in the event of a vacancy in the magistrate position, the appointment is made by the Governor. There is no deadline set in statute by when a decision must be made by Office of the Governor.
