High Speed Pursuit/manhunt Friday night in Estill County

According to police, there is currently an ongoing drug investigation by the Irvine Police Department into the alleged sale of fentanyl and heroin in Estill County. The investigation resulted in a chase Friday night involving two suspects.

Police report to WBONTV that the investigation focused on a subject coming into Estill County from Lexington. As part of the investigation, undercover agents did a controlled buy from the suspect on Thursday. Officials continue that after the drugs tested positive, officers set up a buy on Friday for a large amount of heroin.

According to Irvine Police Chief, John Sturniolo, when the suspect entered Estill county Friday, Irvine officers initiated a traffic stop and the suspect fled at a high rate of speed in a 2021 Dodge Charger with Hemi. A six-cruiser pursuit ensued on Possum Run and ended on Maddy School Road and Amos Richardson Cemetery in Estill County, near Blue Run Road.

There, police continue that two suspects fled on foot in the area: one male, one female.

Irvine Police officers surrounded the area and located the female subject about 4 hours later that evening. The male subject is still at large, but not believed to be in the area, near the Madison/Estill County line.

IPD seized the vehicle involved, as well as one half pound of heroin. IPD officers worked the area woods from 6:30-11:30 Friday night searching for the suspect, and expect an arrest in this case soon. Stay tuned as WBONTV will follow this story and will add updates when available.
