A former local state champion basketball player is now behind bars and charged with manslaughter. According to the Richmond Police Department, on June 28th officers responded to Jason Drive, where a deceased male had been discovered.
Detectives were called to the scene and initiated an investigation into the cause of death. Police say that during the investigation, detectives allegedly recovered evidence to indicate a drug overdose was the cause of the death. Also recovered by detectives was evidence identifying the person suspected of selling the deadly drug to the victim.
Following a short foot chase on Tuesday, July 13th, 26-year-old Nathaniel Quan Taylor of Richmond was taken into custody. Taylor was arrested and charged with: Fleeing or evading police 2nd degree and Leaving the scene of an accident. Detectives later spoke to Mr. Taylor and subsequently charged him with Manslaughter 2nd degree.
