Scott County Man Arrested for Impersonating a Police Officer and Confiscating Firearm

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, a man was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to impersonate a police officer. Police say that the man, Zachary A. Trussell, was wearing a police vest and carrying a “realistic” pellet gun.

Two fishermen told police Trussell approached them Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial WMA wildlife area of Rogers Gap Road. Trussell identified himself as a member of law enforcement and even allegedly patted the men down and confiscated one of their firearms.

Trussell has been charged with impersonating a police officer and felon in possession of a firearm. Police are asking that if anyone has had a similar interaction with Trussell in Georgetown or Central Kentucky to contact law enforcement at 502-863-7855.
