Moped Wipeout Ends in the Arrest of a Madison County Man Due to Alleged Drug Use


Yesterday around 3:00 a.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to an area on Paint Lick Road in reference to a male identified Jason Short who was seen wearing an orange shirt and jumping out in the middle of the road.

Upon arrival, Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with 38-year-old Short, after he matched the description from the caller. The citation continues that Short allegedly told officers that he had wrecked his moped. According to the citation, deputies noticed Short being very fidgety, having pinpoint pupils, unable to focus, and having a hard time standing on his feet.

Police add that Short freely admitted to being under the influence of a small amount of methamphetamine. Short was then arrested and a small amount of methamphetamine in his pocket was located.

Short was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on charges of Public Intoxication, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Operating a Moped Without an Operators License.
