Fire Shuts Down US 25 At Rockcastle/Madison Line

According to the Berea Fire Department, around 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 2, they were called for mutual aid to assist the Mount Vernon Fire Department with the suppression of a structure fire affecting two buildings.

Upon arrival, crews evaluated the two separate buildings: an out building/garage which was fully involved, and a house which had little damage to the exterior and minor smoke damage to the interior. The fire appeared to have started in the out building and spread to the house.

The storage building has been declared a total loss, however the house was salvaged and in decent condition from the fire.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to report.  While crews continue to clean up and investigate the cause of this fire, Highway 25 will be shut down at the Madison/Rockcastle Co. line until further notice.
