Clark County Nonprofit Aims to Raise Thousands for Female Veterans

Lady Veterans Connect (LVC), a nonprofit organization based in Winchester, is hoping to raise thousands of dollars in just 24 hours. LVC helps to provide support and shelter to female military veterans who are in a transitional period or facing homelessness.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, female veterans are two to three times more likely to become homeless than any other group in the United States adult population. Over 40% of the current homeless adult population are veterans.

The organization says that they have a goal of raising $22,000, which they hope to see raised by 11:59PM tonight. The fundraiser began at midnight on Tuesday, and is part of this year’s KY Gives Day.

KY Gives Day is organized to provide much needed help to nonprofit organizations all across the state in the form of online donations. KY Gives is an initiative of the Kentucky Nonprofit Network, the state’s association of nonprofits. According to KY Gives, they have raised about $2.7 million dollars in partnership with over 1,000 nonprofit organizations.
