On Monday afternoon, Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a robbery at a dollar store on Keavy Road.
According to police, a store employee attempted to stop a female subject from leaving the store after she was observed attempting to leave the store with items she had not paid for. The suspect, later identified as Nora Bowman, pushed the employee to the ground and fled in a car headed south on Keavy Road.
Deputies were able to locate the suspect vehicle behind a residence, approximately 4 miles away. When police approached the vehicle, the female suspect then fled into a barn and would not come out upon police request. A K-9 unit was then brought on the scene to locate Bowman inside the barn. Police say Bowman was fully covered in hay, attempting to hide from deputies.
Following a brief struggle with authorities, Bowman was taken into custody. Police charged Bowman with 2nd Degree Robbery, Resisting Arrest, Public Intoxication (controlled substances). Officials say the total value of items taken from the store was $28.46. The store employee was reported to have minor injuries.
Bowman was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
