2 Pounds of Methamphetamine Seized Following Traffic Stop


Two individuals were arrested and found with 2 pounds of methamphetamine following a joint investigation initiated by the Barbourville Police Department, Corbin Police Department, and the Laurel County Sheriff’s office.

The investigation culminated in a traffic stop by Laurel County Sheriff’s office personnel on Sunday, March 21 resulting in the seizure of 2 pounds of methamphetamine, a gun, and the arrest of two individuals: 50-year-old Jason Wagers and 38-year-old Sonya Alberta Roberts.

During the traffic stop on I-75 around 9:30 P.M., Laurel sheriff’s Narcotics Team’s K-9 alerted on a silver Dodge Journey. Subsequently, 2 pounds of suspected methamphetamine was discovered.

  • The driver, Wagers, was taken into Federal custody and charged with Distribution of Methamphetamine .
  • Rogers, the passenger, was charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were lodged in the Laurel County correctional center.
