A Jessamine County couple are now facing charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence after police report they disposed of a man’s body in a garbage can.
Both Clay Phillips and Tawna Miller were arrested by Nicholasville Police Tuesday morning. The couple allegedly told officials that the man was staying overnight at their home on Strawberry Lane when he died from what they say was natural causes. Police continue that the couple allegedly brought a trash can inside their residence, undressed the man, and put the body inside the can. Officials report no signs of trauma on the body, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
Both Phillips and Miller have pleaded not guilty, and a preliminary hearing is set for Monday, February 1. The victim’s name has not been released by police at this time.
