Richmond Woman Arrested After Alleged Stabbing

On Saturday, a Richmond police officer responded to Maple Dr. in reference to domestic violence dispute. A third party caller reportedly advised officers that a female had been stabbed by a male.

Upon arrival officers report making contact with 52 year old, Karen Smith who was sitting in a vehicle allegedly belligerent, intoxicated and uncooperative. Smith reportedly had a small laceration to her left forearm. According to the citation Smith would not answer any questions from police, allegedly she just stated that “Derrick is a d**k” and “get him out of my house”. Smith was then transported to the Baptist Health Richmond for stitches for her laceration.

Police then report making contact with Mr. Hurt the male half of the alleged domestic violence. Hurt advised officers that both him and smith were consuming alcohol. He reported Smith allegedly yelling and screaming from upstairs and after checking on Smith he reports feeling a sting in his back after turning away from her in an argument. Hurt couldn’t explain the laceration on Smith’s arm and allegedly stated that Smith might’ve done it to her self.

Smith was treated at Baptist Health Richmond and then lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on Charges of Public Intoxication and Assault.
