EKU to Host Virtual Stair Climb and Holiday Cards for Heroes, in Honor of 9-11

EKU wants you to join them in remembering those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, by participating in their virtual stair climb event. There are several ways to participate in this year’s event to receive the giveaways (while supplies last).

To enter for the giveaways, you can do one of the following:

  1. Walk 7,920 steps in one day, and capture it on your pedometer. This is to symbolize the steps needed to walk up and down both Twin Towers. Take a screen shot or picture of your steps and email the photo to nikki.hart@eku.edu to record your information. This challenge will take place between September 7th-14th. After you submit your participation, check your email for times to pickup your giveaway in Powell 152, following the event.
  2. On Friday, September 11th, from 6am-10pm visit the Student Recreation Center and use the stair master machine to climb 110 stories, or 1,980 stairs, to symbolize the flights of stairs that first responders climbed in the World Trade Centers on 9/11. Upon completion, participants will receive a Campus Recreation water bottle and towel, while supplies last. Click here to register with Campus Recreation.

EKU is also hosting their annual 9/11 Holiday Cards for Heroes event. You can make holiday cards for military members. You have two options to submit cards. The first is joining us, socially distanced with masks, in Powell 201 from 10am-2pm. We will have set supplies, and can host up to 20 participants at a time.

The second way is to make cards at home, and drop them off at the Student Life & First-Year Experience Office, Tuesday-Friday, 8am-8pm, in Powell 152.
