Police: Woman Allegedly Assaults Victim With Bicycle Part

Richmond Police Department took a woman into custody this week following an altercation that led to the victim severely bleeding.

According to the citation, police responded to a call at Baptist Health Richmond ER to speak to the victim, who said she had been assaulted. The victim stated that Stephanie Young and herself had been involved in an altercation earlier that day. Police continue that Young had allegedly walked unannounced and uninvited into the victim’s unlocked apartment, and began to assault the victim with a metal bike brake component.

The citation adds that others in the apartment were able to break up the fight, which Young then fled the scene. Police observed swollen protrusions on the victim’s head, as well as a laceration that made her “bleed substantially”. Officers discovered the brake component when they arrived at the residence.

Multiple witnesses identified Young as the perpetrator of the assault, and told police that she had entered unlawfully into the home.

Young was taken into custody and charged with 1st degree burglary and 1st degree assault.
