Richmond Police: Man Accused of Shoplifting Exposed Himself to Juvenile

Richmond Police were called to investigate reports of indecent exposure which took place in the Sizemore Drive area over the weekend. The caller told dispatch that a male subject was acting erratically and exposing himself in the roadway.

The suspect had already fled on foot prior to police arrival, however multiple witnesses stated that they had seen the man, Dwight Barry, yelling for no apparent reason and revealing his genital area to a juvenile subject.

Officers located Barry afterward near Turpin Drive, where he was detained and identified by the witnesses. Barry was reportedly unstable on his feet and slurring while speaking. Barry’s mother was on scene as well, and allegedly described him as being “so high” while talking to him.

Barry was arrested and charged with two counts of Indecent Exposure (1st and 2nd Degree), Public Intoxication, and 2nd Degree Disorderly Conduct. In addition to these charges, police charged Barry with Theft by Unlawful Taking stemming from a reported incident where he had shoplifted several pieces of jewelry from Meijer a couple days prior.
