City of Richmond Receives Safety Grant

Richmond was recently awarded a $3,000 safety grant by the Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services (KLCIS). Philip Williams; Director of Codes, Planning, Safety, and Risk Management; says that grants such as this one offer ways to provide products that will enhance public safety.

“Receiving this grant demonstrates the commitment to safety that the City Commission and our employees have on a daily basis,” Williams said. KLC Insurance Services helps members increase public safety with a number of proactive programs and services. KLCIS has awarded upwards of $4.6 million since the Safety Grant Program started in 1999.

The awarded funds will go toward personal protective equipment (PPE) and includes a $300 reimbursement for attending the KLCIS Risk and Safety Conference. “Our philosophy is to prevent injuries and claims from happening,” says J.D. Chaney, Executive Director/CEO. “We want to partner with our members, and this safety grant promotes good risk management. There is no better way to invest our members’ money.”

KLC provides safety grants to its members annually. As Kentucky’s largest municipal insurance program, KLC provides a full range of affordable liability, property, workers’ compensation and other products to municipalities. In addition, the Kentucky League of Cities offers employee benefits programs, legislative advocacy, financial services, training and education, municipal law services, community development services and more.
