Model Laboratory School will be hosting a drive-in graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 at the Eastern Kentucky University Alumni Coliseum Lot. The ceremony will begin tonight at 7:30 p.m, and an audio broadcast will be able to be listened to on 89.5 FM.
The program of events will be similar to that of a traditional graduation program, though for the awarding of diplomas, the seniors will drive up to a stage, exit the vehicle, receive their diploma from a masked administrator at a six-foot distance. The seniors will then return to their vehicle and park their cars as directed.
To comply with public health guidelines that have made this drive-in graduation possible, participants and attendees at this ceremony must:
• Stay in the vehicle at all times before, during, and after the ceremony.
• Follow all guidance from public safety officers.
• Not pass materials from car-to-car.
A formal graduation video will be released immediately after the ceremony on Model’s website, model.eku.edu. Model Laboratory School’s Class of 2020 has forty-five graduates and a 100% graduation rate. This past year, Model Laboratory High School was one of seven high schools in the state that was awarded a Five Star rating by the Kentucky Dept. of Education.
