A Richmond man is on the hook for a few serious charges following an encounter with a Madison County Fish and Wildlife officer earlier this week.
According to the arrest citation, 38 year-old Kentaris Wansley was discovered to be fishing without a valid license at Wilgreen Lake. When the officer was standing next to the vehicle Wansley was apparently planning to leave in, they could detect the odor of marijuana. The owner of the vehicle was found to have marijuana on their person.
Wansley allegedly provided authorities false information when asked about his identity. Through coordination with dispatch officials, Fish and Wildlife were able to verify Wansley’s identity. After learning that Wansley had an active warrant out for his arrest stemming from a Kentucky EPO violation, a vehicle search was conducted where additional marijuana, suspected crack cocaine, and various firearms were located. According to police, the owner of the vehicle claimed that Wansley had no knowledge of the firearms and stated that the marijuana belonged to them.
Wansley was arrested and charged with Resident Fishing without a Valid License, Giving an Officer False Identifying Information, and 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine).
