RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team announced the signing of new member, and Berea native, Sarah Mitchell on Wednesday.
“We are very excited to have Sarah as a part of our program,” head coach Johnna Bazzani said. “Nothing is better than having a hometown kid who has dreamt of being a Colonel.”
Mitchell is a 6-foot outside hitter for Berea, Kentucky. Mitchell comes from Madison Southern High School where she helped lead her team to a 28-5 record and a district championship her senior year. She is the first player in program history with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. Mitchell owns every kill record in the program’s history.
Mitchell had offers from Northern Kentucky, Marshall and Tennessee Tech.
“Sarah is a very physical athlete. She will bring strength and power into our gym,” Bazzani said. “She was a three sport athlete in high school and highly competitive. She is going to be fun to watch next fall.”
