Richmond Parks & Rec Close Offices, Cancel Upcoming Events

In a letter sent out by the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department earlier today, it was revealed that several upcoming events have now been officially cancelled.

These events include Easter Eggstravaganza, Yoga in the Park, and the grand opening of Adventure Falls. In addition to the event cancellations, several park facilities including the Teen Center, all park bathrooms, and all playgrounds have been closed.

The letter goes on to state that Parks and Rec offices have been closed in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“We have temporarily closed our offices to protect and care for those who work with us, our customers, and the public”, the letter reads.

This decision comes following the order that City of Richmond delivered, saying that all “non-essential” employees stay at home for the next 2 weeks. As a result of this, responses may be delayed. Like other city departments, Richmond Parks and Rec officials will continue to work from home to the best of their ability.
