It was “Drive Your Tractor to School Day” yesterday at Madison Central, the first event of its kind at the high school. The event saw tractors and trucks being captained by students and faculty, including Madison Central Principal Brandon Fritz.
WBON TV’s Samantha Burford spoke with Keeley Raye Cooper, an advisor for the Madison Central FFA chapter. “Other schools have replicated it in the past for FFA Week, and we wanted to do something different this year”, says Cooper. “So, we decided as part of our FFA Week celebrations that we would drive our tractors to school and allow students to drive their trucks as well.”
FFA Week recognizes advisors of school chapters and celebrates accomplishments within the organization. Cooper told us that FFA is not necessarily known as a simply agricultural-based club anymore. Leadership qualities represent a large portion of the educational curriculum for current FFA advisors.
If you missed out on it this year, Cooper says that it is the goal of the chapter to continue the tractor parade every year from now on.
