KYTC Reminds Drivers of Safety Resources During Icy Conditions

KYTC District 7 crews worked overnight into this morning, patrolling and treating areas as necessary. Icy conditions are reported for the 12 counties in the district. (District 7 includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott, and Woodford Counties)

Bridges, overpasses, and ramps typically freeze before surface-level roadways. Low temperatures can create black ice on wet pavement — even on previously treated roadways. Motorists should use extreme caution during the morning commute.

Weather information stations across Kentucky provide data to the Transportation Operations Center in Frankfort. The TOC is staffed 24 hours per day, and distributes information to the twelve highway districts across the state.
