The rain has returned after only being gone for a few short hours. With this new rainfall, the entire state of Kentucky has been placed under a flood watch. We are not alone in the excessive rainfall. States all around the Bluegrass are also under a watch, including most of Tennessee, and parts of Georgia, Arkansas, and Alabama.
Today, widespread rain will cover the Bluegrass with increased intensity as we move through the afternoon and into the evening. The rain will be an all-day event with highs in the low 40s.
Tonight sees even heavier rainfall with thunderstorms that could include strong winds moving through with lows dropping into the upper 30s.
Tomorrow has even more rainfall and by the time this system has cleared the area, we are looking at an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain and that could be more in some areas. If you live in a flood-prone area, it is time to be weather aware.
We will continue to watch this system as it passes through.
