For a 2020 Black History Month celebration, a local group of ladies has partnered with Anthem Medicaid, the City of Richmond, Kentucky River Foothills Development Council, and the new Richmond Active Living Center to bring a night of fun this month.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place Friday, February 28th from 6 until 9 p.m. at the newly opened Richmond Active Living Center on Brighton Drive next to the bowling alley.
According to organizers, this is a night for all men and women to enjoy, but the goal will be to elevate women’s roles and empower them, and to celebrate black history month.
Participants are encouraged to wear their best hat, head scarf, or get their hair in its best form to take part in a contest.
There will also be a silent auction for all sorts of hats, as well as refreshments served.
Watch the video to get all the details on the inaugural event, and hear from the ladies themselves why this is so important to the citizens of Central Kentucky.
