A hospitalization of an unresponsive infant for brain bleed and other head injuries has landed a laurel county man behind bars.
The laurel county sheriff’s office reports that deputies were dispatched Tuesday afternoon to a home on Sinking Creek Road, where the infant had been found unresponsive.
The baby was transported to St. Joseph Hospital of London for treatment and later transferred to UK Medical Center for further treatment.
Deputies add that the child had allegedly fallen headfirst onto a tile floor while in her father’s care.
However, officials report that there had been other instances of the injuries to the child’s head, and in none of those situations did her father, Dennis Jimmy Bell, seek treatment.
Bell was charged with wanton endangerment and was lodged in the laurel county detention center.
The child has been placed in the care of her mother and is still hospitalized.
