Flu season is in full swing and it’s causing problems for many people, including the Owsley County Board of Education.
Various illnesses are reportedly so prevalent in the school population, the Owsley County Board have announced that they have cancelled classes for the rest of the week starting today. The announcement came via a social media post on their page. In the same post, the Board explains that these days will be credited as non-traditional instruction days.
Owsley County is not the only school system facing difficulties due to widespread sickness, however. Wolfe County has also announced that its schools will not be operational through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Classes will resume for both school systems next Tuesday, as Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
