KYTC: Roads Spot-Treated for Frost, Beware Black Ice

KYTC District 7 personnel reported Tuesday evening to patrol, and spot treat areas in specific District 7 counties. Bridges, overpasses and ramps typically freeze before surface-level roadways. Low temperatures can create black ice on wet pavement — even on previously treated roadways. Crews worked overnight, and stayed on duty through the Wednesday morning commute.

Weather information stations across Kentucky provide data to the Transportation Operations Center in Frankfort. The TOC is manned 24 hours per day and distributes information to the twelve highway districts across the state.
