For the last four years Estill County Sports Fans have gotten to watch Little Joe Benton grow up before their eyes and become a 14th Region Basketball Champion, one of the best players in the region on the hardwood, 4 time 11th region Golfer of the year, 2nd team all state golf in 2017 and 3rd team all state in 2019. It’s why it was no surprise to see a full venue as family, friends and fans of Joe pack the Estill County Cafeteria as he signed his letter of intent to play golf at EKU.
Joe has many accomplishments but as good as he is on the golf course and on the basketball court, hes an even better young man. Joe spoke about the reason he chose EKU to continue his playing career and talked about how it would be different not having his Dad as his head coach.
Joe had 6 state tournament appearances while playing Golf at Estill County, won 10 High School Varsity Golf Tournaments, was a 2 time Southeast KY Junior Tour Player of the year and did so much more.
His Dad and head coach of the Estill Golf Team, Ricky Joe Benton talked about how different it would be not having his Oldest Son on the team anymore.
Joe will be playing golf at EKU but his High School Career is not over just yet. Not only is he a great golfer and kid but his career accomplishments and expectations for this year on the hardwood are why he was selected as the WBONTV coverage area preseason player of the year for Basektball.
