At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team responded to a climbing accident near Eagle’s Point Buttress.
According to a Facebook post on the Wolfe County Search & Rescue account, climber was approximately 25 feet above his last piece of gear on the last pitch of Fox Fire when he fell. The climber had sustained multiple injuries, but managed to rappel off of the route before dialing 911.
The rescue team made contact with the injured climber as he was attempting to self evacuate. After a patient assessment was conducted, it was determined that a carry-out was the best method of extricating the victim.
Members of Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team along with 4 ‘Good Samaritan’ bystanders, evacuated the patient to the trailhead, where he was then transferred to Menifee County EMS.
