Former Waco Volunteer Firefighter Involved in Fatal Car Accident


A former associate member of the Waco Volunteer Fire Department was pronounced dead on Sunday, following a car crash that afternoon in Butler County. According to Kentucky State Police, the crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Reedyville Road in the Roundhill community.

Officials say 72 year-old Paul Hensley of Hazard was traveling southbound when his vehicle apparently crossed the center-line of the road, into the path of Robert Combs of Smith’s Grove. The two vehicles collided head-on.

Combs was pronounced dead on the scene, and Hensley was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital to be treated for severe injuries.

Funeral services for Combs will be held at the First Baptist Church in Richmond, this Thursday at 7 p.m. Combs’ family is asking those wishing to honor Robert to make contributions to the Braeden Combs Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of Bank of Edmonson County, P.O. Box 99, Brownsville, KY 42210.
