Alleged Assault with a BB Gun Leads to Arrest

A Richmond man was arrested recently after police responded to a domestic assault report involving an unconventional weapon – a BB gun.

According to Richmond Police, 45 year-old Troy Marshall was intoxicated when they arrived to his Valley Drive residence. Marshall was allegedly unsteady on his feet and slurring his speech as he told officers that there hadn’t been a physical altercation between the victim and he.

Further reading of the citation indicates that Marshall claimed the victim had shot his windows out and “messed up” the residence after he left. When police made contact with the victim, they advised officers that Marshall had arrived at the address earlier that day, calling them derogatory terms.

The victim went on to say that they threw iced tea onto Marshall, which resulted in him striking the victim in their face with a closed fist. Following this alleged attack, Marshall reportedly picked up the BB gun, loaded it, and fired it three times in the victim’s direction. This resulted in a nearby glass door shattering.

The arrest citation goes on to state that Marshall reportedly made a threat towards the victim, saying that “the next [shot] is between your eyes”.

Police deemed Marshall’s conduct to be dangerous towards others, and arrested him. During Marshall’s detainment, two marijuana joints were located in his coat pocket. He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where he was charged with 4th Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Wanton Endangerment, and Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.
