Vehicle on Fire in Berea Leads to 4 Charged with Drug Offenses

Berea Police responded to a vehicle on fire Sunday night, and ended up taking four people into custody after suspected heroin and methamphetamine were allegedly discovered in the car, which none of the group owned up to.

According to the citation, the vehicle was smoking badly when police arrived at the scene on Chestnut Street. The officer notes that the driver attempted to pull away when he first arrived at the scene, but then stopped when he saw the cruiser.

One of the occupants had an active warrant, and suspected marijuana on their person, which prompted the use of K9 unit. The K9 alerted on the rear of the vehicle, prompting a search. Neither of the females admitted to ownership of suspected methamphetamine that was then located.

After the suspects were taken out of the car to be questioned, another officer located suspected Xanax pills, which were also denied to belong to any of the occupants of the car.

Police took Allyson Campassi, Bobby Inman, Cammy Pennington, and Tracy Hunter all into custody and they were lodged into the detention center on various drug possession charges.
