Jackson County School officials said schools will be closed Friday as a precaution, as police across the state are searching for a man authorities say killed a man in Henry County and allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife.
37-year-old Terry Whitehouse is named a suspect in the crimes, and was reportedly spotted in Jackson county, but not arrested.
Police report Whitehouse’s mother-in-law called the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department Thursday and said she had been kidnapped by Whitehouse. Whitehouse allegedly let the mother-in-law go but they believe his wife is still with him.
Officials add that Whitehouse had just been released Wednesday after being arrested for allegedly violating an emergency protection order that his wife, Melinda, had taken out against him.
Police believe Whitehouse may be traveling in a white 2017 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with Kentucky plates 647FPB. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
