EKU Police Make Drug Arrest at Model Laboratory School


A Richmond man was arrested early Thursday morning after EKU Police observed several individuals on the Model Lab grounds after school hours.

When officers approached the group and asked Jordan Smither for identification, he reportedly gave them a false name and stated he was from Chicago. After searches could not locate anyone matching the information provided, Smither was allegedly observed by police dropping an object on the ground and attempting to destroy it with his foot.

Police believe that the object contained cocaine, and the package was collected as evidence. According to the citation, officers then located approximately 65 Xanax pills, a package containing an unknown amount of marijuana, and an open package of gummy worms near the preschool entrance to the school building.
