Corbin Man Accidentally Shoots Himself During Burglary


Laurel County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Austin Traynor of Corbin on Wednesday afternoon in connection to a burglary which had occurred earlier that day.

An investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office determined that this subject had allegedly entered a store in southern Laurel County without permission to do so and stole several handguns and a power drill from the business.

According to the citation, Traynor accidentally caused one of the firearms to discharge during the burglary, shooting himself in the hand. He was treated at a Corbin medical facility and at UK Hospital for the gunshot wound.

Traynor was charged with 1st Degree Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking (Firearm), and Theft by Unlawful Taking (Under $500) before he was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
