With Cam’Ron Fletcher, BJ Boston, and Terrence Clarke already on board for Kentucky’s 2020 class, many have already written John Calipari off for the remaining wings in the class. And after Jalen Green and Josh Christopher “mutually parted ways” with Kentucky, it seemed like they may be right.

However, the Wildcats have seemed to re-emerge in the recruitment of Montverde, Florida native Scottie Barnes, the No. 9 overall recruit in the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Barnes recently told Adam Zagoria that he is now focusing on four primary schools: Oregon, Miami, Florida State, and Kentucky. Kentucky was once believed to be out of the picture, but is now the only remaining blue blood on his list.

But will he really consider going to Kentucky with so many other wings on the roster?

“Everyone knows about Kentucky and what they do there with their players,” Barnes told Zagoria. “They really help people to be one-and-done, which is what I really want to do.”

He has already visited Oregon and Florida State, and he has a visit scheduled for Miami. Barnes says he also plans to visit Kentucky, and will be making his college decision in November, possibly sooner.

Some have viewed Oregon as a favorite, but rest assured that Barnes has given them the kiss of death by calling them his dream school.

“It has always been my dream school since I was a kid,” he said. “Once you get older though, you just have to stop that dream school stuff and face reality, because you have to know what best fits you and gets you in the best situation and helps you develop as a player.”

Kentucky is, but no means, a lock on this one. But with the Wildcats potentially getting the final visit before an early decision, John Calipari has to like his chances.
