Laurel County Sheriff’s Department Arrests Nine in Connection to Massive Burglary


The Laurel County Sheriff’s Department have arrested nine individuals this past week beginning on October 3, 2019 in connection to the burglary and theft of property from a Cold Hill Road residence near London.

A group of individuals was caught on video surveillance while driving a truck and trailer to a residence and later loading up various household items including furniture and water heaters. Deputies traveled to numerous locations throughout the county, identifying and arresting suspects.

A large amount of stolen property valued at approximately $20,000 was recovered at a Knox County residence and has been returned to the victim.

The arrested individuals include Dennis Johnson and Ashley Jones of London. The two were charged with Burglary and Theft by Unlawful Taking (more than $500, but less than $10,000).

A follow-up investigation led Sheriff’s investigators to arrest Frederick E. Wilt of Corbin for allegedly providing a vehicle used to facilitate the burglary. Johnny L. Arthur of London and Robbie Bert Baker of Williamsburg were also arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking (more than $500, but less than $10,000).

As the investigation continued, Sheriff’s investigators charged Lori Havelka of Gray who allegedly admitted unlawfully taking dishes and furniture from the residence.

Officials then traveled to a Vaughn Ridge Road residence which led to the reported discovery of meth pipes, a large amount of marijuana, and a handgun in the possession of 2 convicted felons there. Jessica Sizemore, Patrick Watkins, and Teddy Vaughn of London were all arrested for various weapon and drug charges.

All nine individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. Other items stolen from the victim are still being sought by officials. The investigation is continuing with more arrests to be expected.
