Alleged Intoxicated Foot Chase Lands Berea Man in Jail

Berea Police responded to the Forest Street area on Sunday, in reference to a suspicious male subject parked in front of an apartment complex.

Officers arrived to the area and found the male subject, later identified as Marvin Knuckles, allegedly passed out and hanging out of the side of his vehicle. After he was woken up, officials observed that he had slurred speech and constricted pupils. Police then requested the subject to step out of his vehicle to further talk with him.

When Knuckles was asked to place his hands on the police cruiser, he reportedly started a brief foot chase, which ended after he tripped and fell to the ground. Police then detained Knuckles and advised him to put his hand behind his back. According to the citation, Knuckles refused to put his hands behind his back, tucking them underneath his body.

A search allegedly revealed a plastic baggie that contained a white, powdery substance and a Dramamine bottle containing Xanax pills on Knuckles’ person. Police transported Knuckles to the Madison County Detention Center and charged him with Public Intoxication (Controlled Substance), 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police, Resisting Arrest, and 3rd Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance.
