The Madison County Sheriff’s Department recently took a man into custody following allegations that he sexually abused a minor.

According to the citation, 48-year-old Sheldon Clark Muncy was observed sitting on the front porch of the home when officers arrived, and told them he was aware they were at the residence because, “she said I was doing things to her.”

However, Muncy refused to elaborate on the issue to police. Muncy did tell police that he thought the victim was someone else, and that his wife was not home at the time.

Police reported that he seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, and in his triage report Muncy corroborated that he had been drinking rum.

The victim, aged thirteen, told police that she was woken up by Muncy, who told her that she needed to take her medicine and was told to go lay in another bed. The victim told investigators that she woke up unclothed, with Muncy touching her inappropriately.

Two other children reported at the home at this time. Muncy had a BAC of .234 when tested.

He was arrested and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where he remains on charges of 1st degree sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a minor, and 2nd degree attempted sodomy.
