Traffic Stop in Berea Evolves into Alleged Drug Bust


This past weekend in Berea the Street Crimes Unit reportedly conducted a traffic stop on Prince Royal Drive.

Police report viewing a plastic bag in the vehicle containing suspected methamphetamine as well as two metal pill boxes sticking out of 55 year old John Lawson’s pocket. Officers reportedly searched Lawson’s vehicle and allegedly found what was suspected to be heroin, cocaine, cash and a glass pipe.

Also in the vehicle officials reported finding two handguns in a metal case. Lawson was arrested and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance of meth and heroin, 1 count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and an additional charge of tampering with physical evidence.
