Richmond Man Arrested on Alleged Strangulation After Lover’s Quarrel


Richmond police report receiving a call regarding a domestic dispute between a woman caller’s son and his boyfriend.

Officials report arriving at the apartment, where numerous residents were outside of their apartments advising officers of the loud verbal argument in the complex. Police made contact with the victim who stated that his boyfriend, 18 year old Gerquise Guest had jumped out of the back window prior to the officers arrival.

Police report upon observing the victim, he had small lacerations underneath his chin, along with various scratches on his face, shoulders, and back. The victim stated that allegedly Guest strangled him out of his sleep to the point where he couldn’t breathe.

While speaking to the victim police report hearing noise coming from the treeline behind the apartment. Officers investigated the noise and made contact with the alleged suspect Guest, who admitted to the the alleged crimes and stated that he became agitated when his boyfriend allegedly took his money.

Guest was then lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on charges of strangulation 1st degree, assault 4th degree and possession of marijuana.
