Musical Musings: Bedford Band Goes Into the Sun With New Album

The College musicians with old souls from Morehead are back–and better than ever.

Bedford Band visited musical musings earlier this year, and you can compare this new sound that they have refined as compared to their last session with us.

This time, we got to meet all four band members, who made time out of their touring amidst the release of their new album, A Trip Into the Sun.

The album release party for this newest, full work will take place at the Burl in Lexington on October 4th. However, never fear as you can watch a taste of their studio sound right here, right now before the official album release.

The guys told Marisa Hempel they had also been working hard in professional studios in Nashville, which they said taught them a lot about the music business as well as helped hone their sound together as a group. Make sure to check out the soulful Got to Go single as well, featured in this session, and hear all the updates from the Eastern Kentucky rockers.

From the Bio for Bedford:

Born and raised in Eastern Kentucky, the Bedford Band comes to the Kentucky music scene with something new in their pockets, but something vintage in their souls. They are musicians able to capture lightning, put it in a bottle and sell it to the world with a diverse and unique americana rock sound. The four piece rock group is on a mission to reignite authentic rock and roll with their own touch of soul.

Through the influences of The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Chris Stapleton, Lynard Skynard, Tyler Childers, Waylon Jennings and many other legend through a multitude of genres, Bedford creates a sound both new and familiar.

Trevor St John’s articulate guitar playing and smooth voice

Kolby Swiney’s voracious guitar and keyboard work

Samuel May’s powerful singing and groovin’ bass

Tristan Frazier’s sophisticated, yet aggressive drumming and harmonies

Bedford creates a performance that speaks to the nostalgia in all of us, yet extends the family tree of rock and roll just a little bit further.
