Estill County School superintendent Jeff Saylor has responded after a Facebook post this morning sparked panic alleging that there was a bedbug outbreak at Estill County High School.
However Saylor tells WbonTV that there was only one bed bug found that was possibly carried in by a student on a backpack.
Saylor says they are trying to identify the student, and officials are looking to assist with the home environment of the student and say that there is no cause for alarm.
Saylor adds that students were removed from the classroom where the bedbug was located, and the area was checked throughly by staff. No other pests were located during this search. Kenny Cole from the Estill Health Department will also be conducting a routine inspection today.
