Berea Police were dispatched to Paint Lick Road early Tuesday morning in reference to a single vehicle injury accident. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a silver SUV upside down in a front yard.
Police observed that the vehicle was unoccupied and that the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Rodrigo Perez, was on the phone within the area of the crash. When officers made contact with Perez, he allegedly advised police that he had been the driver of the vehicle and that he had consumed two 40oz bottles of Corona prior to the accident.
According to the citation, Perez claimed that he had been traveling at a high rate of speed when the vehicle pulled to the left, causing him to lose control. Officers allegedly observed an empty 40oz bottle of Corona inside the vehicle.
Berea Police conducted a breath Intoxilyzer test, which reportedly registered an alcohol concentration result of 0.184. Perez was arrested and transported to the Madison County Detention Center where he was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, No Operator’s-Moped License, and Failure of Non-Owner Operator to Maintain Required Insurance.
