Bathroom Standoff at Baptist Health Leads to Arrest

Richmond Police were called to Baptist Health Richmond early Monday morning to investigate a report of trespassing.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found that Ronnie Allen had locked himself in a bathroom inside the hospital. According to the citation, Allen had armed himself with a “black pole” and refused to exit the bathroom.

Baptist Health officials advised the officer that Allen had been discharged earlier but returned and refused to leave the premises.

While police were trying to convince Allen to exit the bathroom, he reportedly stated that “people were trying to harm him”, and kept engaging in violent and threatening behavior.

Eventually, authorities were able to enter the bathroom and persuaded Allen to drop his weapon before taking him into custody. Allegedly, it was determined by officers that Allen was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Allen was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where he was charged with Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Trespassing.
