In a recent citation from the Madison County Sheriff’s office, a reportedly homeless man threatened his grandfather, resulting in an assault arrest.
According to police, Shawn M. Cox came to the victim’s home, and allegedly began cursing at him because his children were taken away from him. The grandfather reported to police that Cox tried to punch him, but missed.
The victim continued that he had to strike Cox with a cane in self defense during the altercation. Cox, according to the citation, continued to strike the victim, resulting in the victim sustaining visible injuries to his arms and face.
After getting a statement from Cox, he was taken into custody at the Quality Quarters motel by police and charged with fourth degree assault.
