Alleged Attempted Burglary Leads to 9 Criminal Charges of Richmond Man


Richmond Police Department responded to call on Sunday in reference to an alleged attempted burglary. The victim reportedly claimed a male subject was attempting to kick in the back door to her residence.

The report states that upon arrival to the scene, Michael Golden was located sitting on the back porch of the residence and appeared to be extremely irate. Police say that when Mr. Golden was asked to come down from the porch he attempted to flee on foot but was stopped by an officer. This reportedly led to Mr. Golden repeatedly striking the officer and resisting arrest.

According to the citation, during the first encounter with the officer, Mr. Golden slipped out of his shirt and proceeded to flee on foot, jumping multiple fences and running through parking lots. The report states that Mr. Golden attempted to hide when he was cut off by RPD but was taken into custody while continuing to “yell and curse” at officers. Mr. Golden also allegedly attempted to kick the patrol car window once he was placed inside the vehicle.

RPD reports that once Mr. Golden was detained at the MCDC, he continued to resist arrest as he attempted to head-butt and threaten various officers. The citation states he also threatened the victim, saying he would “blow [her] head off” when he got out of prison. He also reportedly admitted to being high on Methamphetamine.

Michael Golden was charged with Criminal Mischief (3rd degree), Terroristic Threatening (3rd degree), Resisting Arrest, Assault (3rd degree), Burglary (2nd degree), Assault of Police (3rd degree), Fleeing or Evading Police, Public Intoxication of a Controlled Substance, and Criminal Trespassing (3rd degree).
