Alleged Attempt of Life Threatening Break-In Leads to Arrest of Berea Man


According to a citation filed by Berea Police on Sunday, officers responded to a complaint in regards to a man attempting to bust through the window of a Berea residence.

The citation states that the victim was woken up by noise coming from her backyard and went to investigate when she allegedly saw a man standing on her air conditioner and looking into her kitchen. The victim claimed that the man punched her kitchen window – resulting in estimated damage of $250. The report also states that she then retrieved a firearm and proceeded to call 911.

According to the report, upon arrival to the scene, officers located Lucas McHone laying in the woods behind the residence and “close to passing out”. The officers stated in the report that the McHone had a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, admitted to drinking and didn’t know where he was.

The citation details that McHone was placed under arrest and was being escorted out of the woods when he made multiple attempts to resist by jerking away from the officers.

The victim reportedly told McHone he “needed help”, to which he replied, “If I punched the window out, you wouldn’t be alive right now”.

Lucas McHone was arrested on charges of Criminal Mischief (3rd Degree), Public Intoxication, Resisting Arrest, and Terroristic Threatening (3rd Degree). He was transported and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
